The Five Companies
The Boonton Fire Department is organized into five companies โ each with distinct apparatus, history, and culture โ all united in service to Boonton. Together they form a single department operating 24/7, 365 days a year.
Maxfield Hook & Ladder Co. 1
One of the department's original companies, responsible for ladder operations and aerial firefighting.
Salvage & Rescue Co. 1
Descended from the Fire Wardens established in April 1892, specializing in rescue operations and salvage during incidents.
Maxfield Hose & Engine Co. 1
Engine company providing water supply and suppression capabilities.
Harmony Hose & Engine Co. 1
Organized on September 11, 1894, this company has served the community for over 130 years.
South Boonton Hose & Engine Co. 2
Originally an independent South Boonton company, absorbed into the department on July 1, 1907.

Junior Firefighters
Training program for high school students, leading to full membership at 18.

Board of Chiefs
Chief, Deputy Chief, and Battalion Chief leading the entire department.
