The Mill Bell

A bell at the Iron Works served as the fire and accident alarm for the community. It last rang on October 16, 1906, during an iron works fire โ€” and fell when its supports burned away.

Original Structure

The department was originally divided into a Hook and Ladder Section and a Bucket Section. The Fire Wardens, established in April 1892, evolved into today's Salvage & Rescue Company.

Today the department is composed of five companies (301โ€“305), a Board of Chiefs, the Ladies Auxiliary (est. 1935), and the Junior Firefighters program โ€” all united in service to Boonton.
